- This is not the best of times for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers States
- Keys of the party in the state are said to be about the 2019 election of the governor's corps
- The crisis in the party is about the control of the party's machinery
A report by New Telegraph indicates that everything is not well within the APC in Rivers States.
Key party leaders in the state are said to be in the 2019 election of the governor's corps.
The crisis in the party is about the control of the party's machinery and is strictly between the minister of transport, Rotimi Amaechi and the senator representing the eastern senatorial district Rivers, Magnus Abe.
Amaechi, Abe's face-tears, Rivers APC apart
While Amaechi, who is regarded as the party's leader in the state and has a strong influence in the party, Abe claims that it is politically in the state.
Amaechi who usually finds the final verdict about who is in the party is said to have a turbulent task to confirm his authority.
A source known to work in Abe's camp said the Ogoni-born politician regards himself as the right candidate to compete against Wike in 2019.
During the recent dissolution of more than 8,000 members of the APC to the PDP, one of the abductors, chief Bob Chim Okala, a former chairman of Emuoha Local Government Area, described the APC as a skeleton now.
He said the party has nothing to offer to the people of the state, to encourage other members of the party to join the PDP and to go with the governor to move the state forward.
His words: "We know why we left the party. We are national technocrats; When we see what they do at national and national level, we decided to leave."
The tension in the friendly relationship between Amaechi and Abe poses a bigger problem than the breakdown. According to a source in the APC in the state, Amaechi made it clear that he established "Abe and Peterside" and owe them nothing. Abe, on the other hand, leaves nothing to chance.
In 2015, when he lost the ticket to Peterside, he took the result as a loyal party, but those who know him very well say it was a major backslash for his participant
While some soon defended his dedication to Peterside on the grounds that Amaechi was the governor at that time, he had great influence and power to determine who succeeded him. However, what has changed this time is that he is no longer the governor, but he has a ministerial appointment.
According to the source, Abe has no chances as he did in 2015, and he is ready to persuade any stumbling block to get the APC government newspaper. "
But Abe knows that he can not stop Amaechi alone to ensure that the candidate he supports for the APC government card does not get it. Recently, two names have been reallocated as likely candidates to get Amaechi's nod. They are dr. Dumo Lulu-Briggs, who recently shipped the PDP for the APC.
The other candidate is Mr Tonye Cole, who is the executive director of the Sahara group. Lulu-Briggs and Cole are from the Kalabari axis, and any of them can get the ticket.
