An African woman noted a steady interest in African culture and dance among Western audiences and, armed with only $ 19.50 (N5700) and "a lot of guts and a dream," founder of the Maritime Center for African Dance based in Canada.



Mufaro Chakabuda we want to promote African culture through dance
Mufaro Chakabuda, originally from Zimbabwe, to promote the company in order and showcase African culture through dance in 2005.

Speaking to a Canadian media outlet, Mufaro said the center has more than 600,000 children and adults in schools and community centers in Canada, the US, UK and Zimbabwe studied since its establishment.

The Center's profile still growing and in 2009, it is the initial African Ball and US President Barack Obama in the White House in Washington, USA.


The Center also taught African dance
As part of its new venture, the center will soon be opening a full-fledged dance studio in Corner Brook, Canada. The studio will also develop and sell books and DVDs on African culture and dance.
