His comments are contained in a book entitled 'Against the Run of Play', written by veteran journalist Olusegun Adeniyi.
Tinubu accuses President of Senate, Kaduna Governor and other individuals who rule on Buhari, not to elect him as a running mate for the election in 2015.
A head of the Northern Elders Forum, Rev. Bitrus Dangiwa, said he was one of those who cast their weight behind those Tinubu opposed to becoming Buhari's running mate.
The spiritual, who was the youth president, Christian Association of Nigeria in the 19 Northern States and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, told reporters in Kaduna on Saturday, April 29, that a Muslim-Muslim card would have worked against the APC.
Dangiwa described Tinubu as "selfish" to think that a Muslim Muslim presidential ticket worked for the party in 2015.
He praised Saraki to ensure that the Muslim-Muslim card did not work, arguing that a good percentage of the country's Christian population would have been neglected.
His words: "Tinubu's idea of becoming Nigeria's vice president for a Muslim presidential candidate was not only self-centered or selfish, but it would have worked against the APC. We have long known Tinubu's move - Most northerners contributed to Saraki's choice to work against a Muslim-Muslim card in the 2015 poll.
"So, Saraki's decision not to have a Muslim-Muslim ticket was in the best interest of the socio-political development of the country. There are still good Muslims and good Christians that mean good for this country, and Saraki is one of such good examples. "
The national leader of the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, Yerima Shettima, told The Punch that the presidential election in 2015 would not have been won by the APC if the party with a Muslim-Muslim card had gone to the ballot box .
"There is no way Muslim Moslem ticket could have worked with the current way the country was set up and Tinubu wanted to run with Buhari. The APC would have lost the election.
"While the youth of this country want a situation where religion, ethnicity and language do not determine who governs the country, we are busy with the fact that current realities would not have given victory to the APC if it were Muslims for its Candidates (President and Vice President).
"Everyone knows that Tinubu was not an ideal person to be Buhari's running mate. With him, Buhari's running mate would have a negative impact on the party. It was true that he helped many people. He was useful for many causes and people But I'm not sure anyone would support him as Buhari's running mate.
"As he said in the week that Senate President Bukola Saraki and Governor Nasir El-Rufai banned his chance to become Buhari's running mate - it was not a bad move because APC would not have won the election with a Muslim- Muslim ticket with a Tinubu, "said Shettima.
