You are unemployed and live in Nigeria? Wednesday April 5 may be the beginning of new things for you.

The government is set to start online registration of job-seekers in all 36 states of the federation.

The spokesman for the National Directorate of Employment (memorized), Edmund Onwuliri, said that registration will enable the agency to collate up-to-date data.

He said the registration is compatible with fabric's request "to obtain and maintain a data bank on unemployment and life in the country".

The deputy director told the News Agency of Nigeria that the exercise will enable the Directorate to serve as a clearing house, linking with the existing world in government agencies and the private sector.

"The online portal which goes live on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, is designed to get the information you should have any unemployed people. It will serve as a job exchange portal that will link job seekers and employers.

"There will be a practical demonstration of the work of the portal is catching stand at the ongoing 28th edition of the Enugu International Trade on Thursday," he said.

He put the portal's address as: www.jobsforall.ng.

"The Directorate sees this initiative as a bold step to deepening the effectiveness of its employment creation strategies and a critical input into the process of designing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating programs and mechanisms."

Onwuliri explained that the initiative will go a long way to eliminate the cumbersome process of recruitment by employers of skilled labor in the private and public sectors.

Africa's most populous nation has witnessed employment rate increase of 7 straight quarters, making it harder for Nigerian graduates to secure jobs after school.

With over 11.2 million unemployed people, the government is battling to provide services as promised during the election campaign that brought the Muhammadu Buhari administration into office in 2015.
