Products worth a large number of Naira were on Friday
night destroyed by flame at a section of the
Sokoto Old Market.
Many shops containing assorted nourishment
stuff, cooking oil, detergents and other
family items were devoured by the fire.
A comparative incident happened on July 24, 2016 at
the textile section of the market.
The Head of Operations, Sokoto State Fire
Benefit, Mr Mustapha Mohammed,said that "
the inferno started at around 9pm yesterday ".
" But we could put it out in about two
what's more, half hours, with the assistance of the
affected traders and other Samaritans.
"There was no death toll. A fire fighter endured
a dislocation in his right leg but he is
reacting to treatment.
" The reason for the fire is not yet known, but,
there was no open power supply when the
inferno started."
Mohammed stated that the department would
conduct thorough investigations to unwind the
reason for the fire.
A cross section of the affected traders told
NAN that "we have surrendered our fate to God."
Mohammad Chika, one of the affected traders,
called for assistance to empower the traders
recover their misfortunes.
"We are engaging for a urgent support from
the state and Federal Government, and additionally
other good natured Nigerians," he told NAN.
NAN watched that the reconstruction work
was still on-going at the site of the 2016
incident.
