Sheikh Upside, his wife and four children, was shot dead.

A 35-year-old Muslim, Sheikh Yusuf Amzat-Salam, also known as Alfa-Abu, his wife and four children, was shot dead in the early hours of Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.

The incident took place in Atiba area of Odogbolu Local Government. The oldest child, a girl of 11, her twin brothers, 8 years old and the last female child, 2 years old, are all dead.

All the victims were buried in accordance with Muslim rituals, amid charges of sympathizers and relationships. The attackers, whose motive could not be determined, killed the whole household with machete.

It was gathered that the victims were discovered in the pool of their blood when a school bus got the children. A close family friend, Mr. Yusuf Oludaisi, described the act as indifferent and evil and wondered what the victim had to do to justify such treatment.

"He was someone who grew up with us. I've known him for 30 years to be humble and kind to everyone who has come across his path. It's very sad because it's somebody you'll never see or respect, "Said Oludaisi. .

However, the younger brother of the victim, Alfa Ishaaq Amzat-Salam, said he would judge the case for God to judge. "I leave those who committed such evil in God's hands, for He alone will judge them. The act can not be undone.

"I will always remember my brother forever for his loving love, because he was a light for all of us," Ishaaq said. Senator Gbenga Kaka (Ogun East), who was during the funeral of the victims, described the incident as very sad.

"I'm a good friend at the victim's father and when I heard what happened, I was in shock. It's unthinkable what these people did and it brings a lot of sadness to my heart. I do not even describe the words about Not that, "said Kaka.

She said the victim had been admitted at the Police Cottage Hospital, Ikeja Police College, where she is receiving treatment in partnership with Mirabel Centre LASUTH.

The spokesperson said that medical examination was being carried out on the victim.Badmos said the Commissioner of Police, CP Fatai Owoseni, had directed that the father, who admitted raping his daughter on three occasions be charged to court.

“The commissioner has vowed that the command will no longer tolerate cases relating to domestic and sexual abuse in the state,” she stated.

The Police in Ekiti State have arrested a student of College of Health Technology, Ijero Ekiti, Busayo Kayode, who allegedly took her bossom friend to be gang-raped by 10 suspected cult members in a bush on the school premises.

The police said Kayode, who is a member of AVE (Act Very Effective) cult, was in charge of recruiting female students of the institution.

According to a detective, who pleaded not to be named, part of the initiation process is that female students are blindfolded and gang-raped by cult members.

“They are thereafter warned to shut their mouth as initiates or risk losing their lives. But the last victim defied the threat and reported to her parents who informed the police, which led to the arrest of three of the cult members,” he added.

A source in the school said many female students had suffered similar fate, but kept their mouths shut to avoid stigmatisation.

Kayode and three of the suspected rapists were among the 26 suspects paraded on Wednesday by the Commissioner of Police in Ekiti, Wilson Inalegwu.

The CP said the command also arrested a man, Olalekan Ezekiel, for allegedly parading himself as a police inspector.

According to him, Ezekiel was arrested on February 20 on Esure-Awo road, Igede, by a patrol team and later confessed to the crime.

He said one unregistered red Honda motorcycle was recovered from the suspects.

The CP said the police also arrested six persons in Kano and Kaduna states in connection with the killing of the police paymaster in Ekiti, Mr. Idowu Taiwo, and one Kunle Enisan, as well as the kidnap of a Turkey-based Emmanuel Adeleke.

He said, “The operatives successfully recovered a Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Motorola Android Phone and BlackBerry Passport belonging to the late OC MSS . Also, Infinix and Itel phones belonging to the waitresses working at a joint where the late officer was abducted before being killed were recovered.”

The Police Commissioner added that he had established a squad to smash criminal hideouts in the Atikankan, Adebayo, Ajilosun and Ojumose areas of Ado Ekiti.

Inalegwu disclosed that the command was partnering sister commands in Ondo, Kwara, Kogi and Osun States to curtail activities of kidnappers in the zone.

He said his men were also mapping thick forests in the Ikere-Igbara Odo-Ogotun and Ise-Emure areas, where kidnap victims were being regularly kept in the state, to reduce the “nefarious act.”

“We are also enlisting the services of local hunters and vigilante groups for constant patrol of the forests, so that when we occupy their hideouts, they will have no option than to run,” he said.

On herdsmen, Inalegwu said, “We are working to ensure peaceful co-existence among herdsmen and farmers.

“Also, the cult members who gang-raped a student and their accomplice would be charged to court.”

Two Chinese Sukhoi Su-30 Jets performed an "unprofessional" section of an American aircraft, the US Army said.

The US-135 aircraft were on a mission to detect radiation in the international airspace across the East China Sea.

One of the Chinese rays came as close as 150m (45m) to the American plane, according to US officials cited by CNN.

China's suspicion of US activities near the resource-rich international waters of the coast has repeatedly led to tension between the two countries.

Nokulunga Ngwenya, a 23-year-old student of Hillside Teachers’ College in Bulawayo, has ended her life by drowning herself in Hillside Dams.

The young lady was said to have been diagnosed with cancer earlier and she had found it hard to come to terms with the diagnosis. Thus, she left her family members a note telling them about what she intended to do.

Ngwenya who lived in Mpopoma, a suburb in Bulawayo, was discovered by a man in the early hours of Monday, May 15. He was walking his dogs when he found her floating body and notified the authorities.

It was gathered that her family members had been looking for her since the day she left the house. They filed a report at the police station and were told to wait for 48 hours. Skeptical about her safety and what she could do to herself, her family members carried on with the search.

They searched round the Hillside Dams which was said to be her favorite sot but could not find her. It was until the man reported the body that they knew for sure that she had gone through with her plan. According to reports, they found a string of stones tied around her neck.

A family member who claimed to be her uncle confirmed that she had been missing since on Thursday, May 11. The police were involved even though they implored them to wait for a while.

“She left a suicide note saying we should look for her at Hillside Dams. We are shocked and devastated as a family because she was almost done with her studies and she did not seem like a troubled person. We are waiting for a post mortem report because we strongly suspect foul play,” said the uncle.

Assistant Inspector Abednico Ncube , a spokesperson of the Bulawayo Police confirmed the incident.

Two people were allegedly killed by Fulani herdsmen in Afam Uku in the local state-owned river territory.

The suspect Fulani herdsmen said the victims had attacked for unknown reasons.
